Favicon is the little icon that you see at the beginning of URL in the address bar of your browser. This serves as the website’s symbol and makes it standout among other bookmarked web pages.
On my previous post, I have indicated the steps on how to add a favicon to blogger. For this one, we will discuss the ways on how you can easily generate a favicon that you can add to your blog or site.
There are actually a lot of options that you can choose from on how to generate your favicon. One classic way is to install a program that can do it for you such as Imagicon which you can download for free at Download.com website. It’s a very small application (less than 2MB) and is easy to use. You can browse for the image you want to convert or simply drag it to the work area of the application and a .ico version of the image would be automatically generated on the same location where the original image is.
Another popular approach is through website or blogs that offer free favicon generating tool without installing an application. One example that I’ve found is http://www.favicongenerator.org which allows users to generate both static (.ico) and animated (.gif) favicons. A lot more sites of this kind are available on the web, just be careful as some sites are reported to silently install malwares on user computers while using the favicon generation service.
