Restore Blogger Template

As part of making your site look appealing to readers, you exert extra efforts to customize your blog template by applying some override modifications on the template’s HTML code. But what if you suddenly and accidentally deleted something, or add a line of code to the wrong place and cannot remember where you need to undo it?

Good thing Blogger allows us to backup our templates before customizing them as discussed on my previous post. Once you have your backup, just get it ready and the following restoration process should be easy.

On your Blogger Dashboard, go to Design>Edit HTML. Look for the line which says “Upload a template from a file on your hard drive” which is located under the “Backup / Restore Template” section of that page.

Browse for the equivalent XML file of your template that you have backed up earlier then click Upload. Now save your template and see it turn back to its previous state prior to the faulty customization. Go to this link for more details on how to backup your Blogger template.
